Our fast-growing firm will provide you with a variety of opportunities to deploy your civil engineering skills on an assortment of project types for both private and municipal clients.

At V3, we believe that the worst thing is to pigeonhole talent. Instead, we prefer to provide the means for you to discover what it is that you do best and what suits your goals for your ongoing career. We believe that exposing you to a variety of project types that both challenge and develop your skills results in a diverse and rewarding career path.

Our team is the most important asset that walks in our door, and we will provide the resources, mentorship and training to launch you to the next level. V3’s experienced leaders work directly with all team members, transferring their knowledge, skills and techniques directly to you. Let’s build your career, our company and great places together.

Here’s how you fit into the V3 Team:

The ideal candidates will possess strong technical, communication and organizational skills with a focus on being service oriented. A desire to be part of a growing enterprise and an interest in being more than a “cog in a wheel” also are essential. You will work directly with other Technologists, Design Engineers and Project Managers in executing design projects.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Design and draft grading, stormwater management and infrastructure improvement plans for land development and municipal projects, utilizing Civil 3D.
  • Perform earthwork calculations and surface analysis for earth balance evaluations and contractor payment benchmarks during construction.
  • Assist in the creation of project unit price schedules and cost estimates.
  • Help to generate construction contract and specification documents.

Depending on your skills and interests, you also may have an opportunity to assist resident engineering staff during the construction season. This provides an invaluable opportunity for you to see first-hand “design in action.” While not a requirement of this position – which is considered to be primarily office based – at V3 we believe that the best designers and drafters have a full appreciation of how their work on paper functions in the physical realities of project construction. If serving in this role, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the practical side of civil engineering on a various of land development and municipal improvement projects.

What more can we tell you?

Our office is located in Sherwood Park, close to the intersection of Anthony Henday Drive and Yellowhead Highway, about 20 minutes from downtown Edmonton. The projects that you’d be engaged in typically are located in and around Edmonton and other northern Alberta municipalities. In this role, you’ll report to – and work directly with – V3’s Lead Technologist, providing you with a high degree of mentoring as you further develop your professional skills.

The job features competitive pay and paid time off, the potential for overtime pay, and a comprehensive benefits package. However, we think a real difference maker is our collegial team-based environment and the opportunity for you to not get typecast into one role or one type of assignment. If you thrive on variety, you’ll be excited to join our team.

By now, you’re probably wondering what’s important to us…

If you’ve visited our website, you can clearly tell that we emphasize our people. As a professional consulting firm entrusted by our clients to find solutions and provide quality advice, we’re only as good as each member of our combined team. That’s why each person we add to our team is important to us.

Not being the biggest firm in the Edmonton area, every new person we hire is that much more important to us. Of course, we believe in hiring the best people and care about your skills relative to your experience. For example, relevant experience and a solid working knowledge of Autodesk Civil3D is essential.

But we also place a premium on character and cultural fit. Our win-win scenario is when you’re as happy working with us, as we are in calling you our teammate.

While not a requirement, a candidate who possesses a C.E.T. designation or is a T.T. with a desire to progress to C.E.T. or even P.Tech.(Eng.) will be noted. While not immaterial, your years of experience are less important to us than who you are, what you want to do, and how we both see yourself fitting in as a member of our team.
