Build Your World, Build Your Career …
V3 Companies believes in development by providing you with an environment to enhance your career growth and also in transforming the world around us for the better. Our name reflects that commitment to you and those who live, work and play in the special places we help to create and sustain: Visio, Vertere, Virtute – The Vision to Transform with Excellence.
From our Edmonton‐area office, V3 engages in a range of land development and municipal infrastructure improvement projects throughout Alberta and other western Provinces. Our fast‐ growing firm provides you with opportunities to advance your skills in civil engineering construction phase services. We believe that the worst thing is to stymie developing talent. Instead, we prefer to provide the outlets for you to do what you do best and what suits your longer career goals.
Our team is the most important asset that walks in our door, and we focus on providing the resources, mentorship and training to launch you to the next level. V3’s experienced leaders – many of who share a foundation in providing construction phase engineering expertise – work directly with all team members, transferring their knowledge, skills and techniques directly to you. Let’s build your career, our company and great places together.
Here’s how you fit into the V3 Team:
As a growing firm that is taking on increasingly challenging projects, we have a need for quality team members with a developing skill set in and passion for construction phase engineering.
As a Project Technologist at V3, you’d primarily be engaged in the following activities:
- Monitor and observe construction activities.
- Attend and participate in site meetings at a level commensurate with your expertise.
- Prepare progress payment certificates and inspection reports.
- Collaborate with the design team to prepare data for construction staking, and interpret design drawings for contractors.
- Use Leica or Trimble GPS / total station to perform topo surveys and construction staking.
- Serve as a critical resource and communication conduit between clients, contractors and municipalities.
- Perform as‐built surveys for underground utility and roadway projects and assist in project close‐out activities.
- Working closely with Project Managers and Construction Services Coordinator in executing the tasks required of construction phase consultants on our projects.
- In the Construction off‐season, you will be engaged with the design staff and Project Managers assisting in other project phases (such as procurement) and the various stages of engineering design.
- Lead and mentor junior team members, helping them develop their skill set as others likely have helped you on your path.
What more can we tell you?
Our newly‐renovated office is located on the western edge of Sherwood Park, close to Anthony Henday Drive and about 20 minutes from downtown Edmonton. During construction season, this role will be primarily field based; however, there is a flexible hybrid option when in the office. Our projects that you’d be engaged in typically are built in and around Edmonton and other northern Alberta municipalities.
The job features competitive pay and paid time off, the potential for overtime pay, and a comprehensive benefits package. However, we think a real difference maker is our collegial team‐ based environment and the opportunity for you to step up and achieve your full potential on an array of interesting projects for a diversity of clients. If you thrive on variety, you’ll be excited to join our team.
By now, you’re probably wondering what’s important to us…
We wouldn’t have been named to the Top 5 list of North America’s Best Architecture/Engineering Firm to Work For without a passionate focus on our people. Because you will play an important part in defining who we are and effectively serving our clients, we place a premium on character and cultural fit. Our website clearly communicates how much we value our team. As a consulting firm entrusted by our clients to provide solutions and quality advice, we’re only as good as each member of our combined team. Our win‐win scenario is when you’re as happy working with us, as we are in calling you our friend and teammate.
The ideal candidate for this position will bring the following to our team:
- A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited technical institution.
- Registered, or eligible to be registered as a Certified Engineering Technologist with ASET.
- Minimum of three years in construction administration on site development and/or municipal infrastructure improvement projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCad Civil 3D, Trimble Access/Leica SmartWorx, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work both independently and in team environments.
- Eager to gain experience and excel in a career in construction administration.
Having an honest and open communication style also is a key trait. Because we are a very “flat organization” without a lot of layers of management, you’ll interact regularly with every staff member and the management of V3.
