Bridge Z-108 Reconstruction

  • This project is a five-stage, phased removal and replacement of a bridge.

  • The first stage consisted of permanent sheet pile wall, 888 feet of retaining wall and eight drilled shafts, 90 feet in length were installed.

  • The track vertical profile was raised and the superstructure was removed and replaced.

  • The bridge supports two sets of train tracks that remained in service at all times during construction, except on approved weekend closures.

  • Authorizing change orders and pay requests, measurement of quantities, shop drawing review and contract administration was also provided.

  • V3 performed a value engineering study that resulted in a recommendation to re-design the abutments and drilled shafts in order to shorten the construction schedule and realize a significant cost savings. The re-design work was performed by V3.
