  • V3 was contracted by the Village of Mount Prospect to provide environmental engineering and consulting services for the remediation of the Central Plaza redevelopment site.
  • The site had known contaminants relating to heating oil underground storage tanks (USTs) and former dry cleaner operations.\
  • Site investigations revealed elevated concentrations of dry cleaning chemicals, trichloroethylene and perchloroethylene, in the soil above the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Land Disposal Restriction Treatment Standards.
  • Soil remediation was performed using in-situ chemical oxidation via soil mixing to lower the concentrations in soil to acceptable concentrations for non-hazardous special waste disposal. Remediation also included the removal of seven former heating oil USTs, along with excavation and removal of contaminated soils.
  • The site investigation and remediation was performed and approved under the IEPA site remediation program for a focused no further remediation closure.
  • The Village of Mount Prospect obtained a court order to conduct remedial activities at the Central Plaza site because the owner of record does not acknowledge ownership. The Village wanted to remediate and prepare the property for redevelopment.
  • The original No Further Remediation Letter for the property was obtained in 2016. V3 subsequently was contracted by the developer to perform additional remediation and a revised No Further Remediation letter was obtained in June 2020.
  • The property is currently undergoing redevelopment for mixed residential / commercial use.
