Centennial Campground, located and owned by The Town of Rocky Mountain House, is centrally located near the Town’s downtown core with access to services and near major recreational facilities and schools. Town Council wanted to revitalize the site with the objective of creating an innovative development catering to seniors, first-time home owners and single parents. V3 was engaged to develop a preferred plan based on these objectives. This involved planning and leading a four-day design charrette with community stakeholders and the public. The process resulted in two preferred designs followed by development of a pro-forma to identify the potential fiscal return to the municipality based on the cost of development and the eventual return through sales and taxation. The first concept was based on enhancing and improving the campground and adding a building that could provide services to the campground occupants and the wider community. The second concept accommodated a range of housing options for seniors, single parents and families entering the housing market, and also included a multi-purpose community centre.
