- The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis exists to demonstrate the transformational power of parks. As part of living their mission, the Parks Alliance moved their offices to a vacant building along the White River adjacent to Riverside Regional Park and the historic 30th Street bridge in 2020.
- While interior renovations were underway, the Parks Alliance began exploring improvements to their outdoor space to make it more engaging with the river and serve as a community destination for gatherings, small performances, and relaxation in nature.
- Our team developed a concept plan to activate the site, honoring the historical aspects while planning for future programming needs.
- Proposed improvements include a drop-off for boats and accessible access to a boat dock, a sun deck utilizing a historic wharf boat dock, an expanded greenspace and terrace including a fire pit and swing seating, an improved patio deck adjacent to the office space, and a shaded picnic area.
- The concept also recommends narrowing an adjacent parkway to provide trail separation and traffic calming. The project was coordinated with the improvements that the V3 team is designing at Riverside Adventure Park, across the parkway from the Parks Alliance.
