Lacey Creek Watershed Plan

Frequent flooding and aging drainage infrastructure in the Lacey Creek watershed created a need for a comprehensive plan to improve community safety and long-term resilience. Our team supported DuPage County Stormwater Management by collecting watershed data, completing advanced modeling, evaluating flood problem areas, screening mitigation strategies, coordinating with local partners, and helping build alignment around a plan ready for County adoption.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS:
Advanced Hydrologic & Hydraulic Modeling
Our team applied long standing expertise with HSPF, FEQ, FEQUTL, BFILTER, and PVSTATS to accurately represent watershed behavior and meet the County’s modeling requirements.
Rapid Data Insight & Alternative Screening
By using our internal trending analysis process, we quickly interpreted outputs from both the full historic and “biggie” time series, allowing efficient comparison of mitigation options without repeated full PVSTATS runs.
Flood Problem Area Assessment
Flood prone locations were evaluated and translated into clear, practical mitigation concepts that support improved drainage performance in a dense, urban watershed.
Stakeholder & Public Engagement
We collaborated with municipalities, park and forest preserve agencies, utilities, townships, and local institutions to gather insights, share findings, and build support for the recommended plan.
