Reconnecting to Our Waterways Pogue’s Run Waterway
Reconnecting to Our Waterways is a collective impact initiative designed to reclaim the benefits of Indianapolis’ waterways, providing connections to these assets through art, science, and nature. Our firm was the Project Manager for the Pogue’s Run waterway committee, managing grants awarded through the Kresge Foundation. We wrote two separate grant applications for implementing art at “rest stop” locations and creating greenspace maintenance on vacant lots. The maintenance training program has involved more than 200 neighborhood, youth, and reentry program participants. These projects encouraged engagement of the waterway, implemented creative placemaking elements, leveraged existing investment, supported strategic connections, ensured wellbeing, and catalyzed further economic development investment.
