Burt Ridge Waterline Replacements
This project resolved long-standing water quality issues—often reported as rusty water—in a 25-home subdivision with aging cast iron pipes dating back to the 1950s. We replaced the deteriorated waterlines with modern ductile iron pipe, upgraded hydrants and valves, and improved service reliability. Through innovative construction solutions and funding assistance, we delivered a cost-effective upgrade that restored safe, clean water for residents.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS:
Waterline Replacement & Service Upgrades
We installed new six-inch ductile iron water pipe, added hydrants and valves, and transferred existing water services to the new system for improved performance.
Meter Relocation for Accessibility
We replaced outdated in-home water meters with new meter pits near the right-of-way, enhancing accessibility and reducing maintenance challenges.
Innovative Construction Solutions
We installed the new waterline under a state route using a jack-and-bore method. When unexpected utility conflicts arose, we coordinated with ODOT and the contractor to avoid pavement disturbance—preventing costly change orders.
Funding Assistance
We helped secure a grant through the County’s ARPA Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Program, covering 90% of construction costs and making this long-awaited project possible.
