Build Your World, Build Your Career …

V3 Companies believes in development by providing you with an environment to enhance your professional growth and in transforming the world around us for the better. Our name reflects that commitment to you and those who live, work and play in the special places we help to create: Visio, Vertere, Virtute – The Vision to Transform with Excellence.

We are a fast-growing firm with offices located throughout the US and Canada.  Our Sherwood Park office currently engages in a range of planning, land and site development, municipal infrastructure improvement, and transportation projects throughout Alberta and other western Provinces. We believe that the worst thing is to pigeonhole talent. Instead, we prefer to provide the means for you to align your personal career goals with the professional opportunities we offer.

Here’s how you fit into the V3 Team:

V3 is seeking a Technologist with a strong background in construction looking for career growth in an Intermediate/Senior level role in Construction Administration in our Land Development Group.  In this position you will play a leadership role in the tendering, construction, and post construction of projects, while working closely with V3 Project Managers, Resident Engineers/Technologists, Design Engineers, Subconsultants, Clients, Municipalities, and Contractors. While the role will be primarily working within our Land Development Group, we believe that training well-rounded individuals is beneficial for our employees’ personal growth, as well as V3’s ability to service a diverse range of projects. As such, there will be further opportunities to work on Transportation and Municipal Infrastructure projects as project needs require.

Here’s what you’ll do:

To better understand the practical application of design principles, you will:

  • Work closely with Project Managers and Clients to prepare construction contracts and technical specifications, including administration of tender processes.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of quantity take offs, and opinions of probable cost.
  • Provide oversight and support for Resident Engineers-in-Training and Technologists.
  • Review, respond to, and negotiate contractor change order requests and RFI’s.
  • Provide recommendations for resolution of on-site design conflicts in collaboration with Design Engineers.
  • Participate in/chair construction meetings with Clients, Contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain regular communication with Clients to provide status updates.
  • Prepare progress payment certificates and recommendations for payment
  • Serve as a liaison between V3 project teams, clients, contractors, and municipalities.
  • Track project budgets including both construction and consulting costs through construction and post-construction.
  • Attend post-construction inspections, and prepare necessary documentation for Construction Completion and Final Acceptance Certificates.
  • Review progress reporting, and documents prepared by Resident Engineers/Technologists ensuring compliance with relevant specifications.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff in field-based and construction administration roles.

Beyond the construction phase, you will:

  • Work closely with Project Managers and Senior Project Engineers to provide constructability input during the design of our projects.
  • Perform earthwork calculations and surface analysis for earth balance
  • Oversee the compilation of project close-out documentation including record drawings, commissioning packages, testing documents.
  • Assist in the technical design of projects to align with your experience levels and career objectives.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals for upcoming projects.

Here’s some additional skill sets we are looking for:

  • Designation as a C.E.T, P.Eng, P.L. (Eng), or P.Tech
  • 7+ years of experience with Construction Administration on Civil Land Development Projects.
  • Knowledge of construction practices for earthworks, deep and shallow utilities, surface works, and landscaping.
  • Experience with municipality construction standards, and construction contracts.
  • Experience in construction surveying and Civil 3D is considered an asset.
  • Strong ability to manage time with multiple projects and deadlines.

What more can we tell you?

Our newly-renovated office is located on the western edge of Sherwood Park, close to the Anthony Henday Drive and about 20 minutes from downtown Edmonton. Our projects that you’d be engaged in typically are built in and around Edmonton and other northern Alberta municipalities, although we do support our Saskatchewan effort from the Sherwood Park office.

The job features competitive pay and paid time off and a comprehensive benefits package. However, we think a real difference maker is our collegial team-based environment and the opportunity for you to not get typecast into one role or one type of project.

By now, you’re probably wondering what’s important to us…

We wouldn’t have been named to the Top 5 list of North America’s Best Architecture/Engineering Firm to Work For without a passionate focus on our people. Because our Project Managers play such an important part in defining who we are, we place a premium on character and cultural fit. Our website clearly communicates how much we value our team. As a consulting firm entrusted by our clients to provide solutions and quality advice, we’re only as good as each member of our combined team. Our win‐win scenario is when you’re as happy working with us, as we are in calling you our friend and teammate.

Here are your next steps:
