Cap-Haitien Flood Risk Mitigation Plan
Haiti is prone to flooding, and the city of Cap Haitian was ready to take proactive measures against these natural disasters. Our team is developing and executing studies to assist in the construction a Flood Risk Mitigation and Resiliency Master Plan, developing hydrologic and hydraulic models for three principal rivers and various secondary rivers and basins. Using these models, we are simulating the effects of various flooding events, including under current conditions as well as future conditions that take potential climate changes through 2100 into account. In coordination with residents, local groups, and other stake holders, we will develop a report that details both structural and non-structural flood attenuation measures and a preliminary investment plan and budget, estimated for completion in late 2023.
