Crossroads Boulevard Extension
V3 provided comprehensive engineering services for the Crossroads Boulevard extension project, which included a new roadway and bridge crossing over the Cache la Poudre River, just east of SR 257. Our team developed hydraulic reports and sized the bridge and culverts to handle local drainage and the river’s discharge rates of approximately 11,500 cfs. The project involved extensive hydraulic modeling to ensure compliance with FEMA standards and to prevent additional floodplain impacts. We utilized both 1D steady state and 2D unsteady flow models to design a 210-foot, three-span bridge and necessary culverts. Additionally, we performed scour analysis and designed scour protection for the bridge. The site survey, conducted by Aztec, included aerial topography of the surrounding two to three square miles. The bridge design report was well received and is now poised for future funding opportunities to establish a vital four-lane, east-west traffic route connecting to the City of Greeley, Colorado.
