Forbo

Growing industrial activity in Huntersville created the need for a modern facility supported by roadway infrastructure capable of handling continuous heavy truck traffic. The Forbo project addressed that need by delivering a new 90,000 square foot industrial facility as well as street improvements of Herbert Wayne Court, which was redesigned for continuous large truck traffic. Our team provided civil engineering and landscape architecture services that reshaped the roadway, upgraded stormwater systems, and integrated new landscape elements to enhance both performance and appearance.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS:
Civil Engineering Design
Our team reworked Herbert Wayne Court to support the steady flow of large trucks accessing the new facility. This included expanding lane widths and turning radii, refining driveway configurations, and redesigning road grades to improve drainage. The result was a smoother and more efficient circulation pattern for industrial traffic.
Stormwater & Draining Improvements
Improving drainage was essential for long-term roadway performance. We introduced a new storm system and adjusted grading throughout the corridor to ensure runoff moved predictably and away from critical areas. These upgrades strengthened the reliability of the roadway and reduced maintenance concerns for the client.
Substructure Installation
We placed over 16,000 cubic yards of concrete and three million pounds of reinforcing steel, supported by metal shell piles, H-piles, and nine-foot-diameter drilled shafts.
Construction Staging
We managed complex construction staging across multiple seasons and coordinated with overlapping contracts to maintain progress and minimize disruption.
Site & Access Coordination
To align the roadway modifications with the operations of the industrial building, our team coordinated access points, grading transitions, and circulation paths. This collaboration created a cohesive connection between the facility and the public right of way, enhancing how trucks approached, maneuvered, and exited the site.
Landscape Architecture & Streetscape Design
Street tree placement and new landscape elements were thoughtfully integrated to elevate the character of this industrial corridor. Our team designed plantings and streetscape improvements that complemented the surrounding development, met municipal requirements, and added visual structure to the roadway.
