The Rohrssen Road bridge replacement in Hanover Township addresses a critical infrastructure need by replacing a deteriorated structure. Structural Analysis & Design
A recent study conducted by our team concluded that a single-span structure utilizing prestressed precast concrete (PPC) IL beams and open integral abutments with 2:1 riprap slopes is the most suitable solution for the site. This design not only meets structural requirements but also minimizes environmental impact.

Roadway Design
To enhance pedestrian safety and connectivity, a new sidewalk was incorporated into the project scope. Beyond structural upgrades, hydraulic and environmental factors were central to the design process. A revised roadway profile was established to ensure compliance with IDOT hydraulic standards while improving driver safety through better grade transitions.

Environmental Site Assessment
Additionally, the project satisfies IDOT compensatory storage requirements by offsetting any loss of floodplain volume within the project limits. These improvements address immediate infrastructure needs while supporting long-term goals of environmental stewardship and community accessibility.
