As the resident engineer for this project, we aimed to improve safety and relieve traffic congestion in the Batavia/Sugar Grove/Elburn area. This locally funded, $12-million project involved removing two signalized intersections at Bliss Road/Main Street and Fabyan Parkway/Main Street and replacing them with more than 10,000 feet of a new HMA roadway and an oval-shaped, single-lane roundabout. Our team worked across disciplines to account for safety, community needs, and environmental concerns, addressing the various construction phases through environmental support for permitting and clean construction or demolition debris removals, survey assistance, arborist interpretations, lighting design for night sky concerns, and more. Work was completed ahead of the scheduled date and under the awarded contract value.

This project won the 2024 APWA Chicago Metro Chapter (Fox Valley Branch) Public Works Project of the Year in the Transportation category ($5 to $25 Million).
