Canal Winchester 2023 Waterline Improvements
The City of Canal Winchester needed to upgrade aging water infrastructure across residential, commercial, and industrial areas—while preparing for future growth and maintaining uninterrupted service to key businesses. We stepped in to lead the design and delivery of a $2.5 million waterline improvement project. The purpose was to engineer a resilient system, navigate complex site conditions, and ensure the City’s investment delivers lasting impact.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS:
Designing for Performance & Reach
We provided survey and design for the replacement of 9,100 feet of 6-, 8-, and 12-inch watermain across three distinct areas of town, ensuring reliable service and future capacity.
Navigating Complex Construction Conditions
We designed trenchless solutions—including directional drilling under Walnut Creek, a multi-use path, and parking areas, and jack-and-bore installation under an active railroad—to minimize disruption and meet permitting requirements.
Supporting Business Continuity
In a commercial and industrial zone that included a brewery and hotel, we developed a nighttime construction sequencing plan to reduce downtime and maintain two-way traffic flow during installation.
Managing Easements & Permitting
We prepared easement exhibits and legal descriptions for work outside the right-of-way and secured necessary permits through Ohio EPA and coordination with the railroad.
Securing & Administering Funding
We guided the City through the Ohio EPA State Revolving Loan Fund nomination and application process, and ensured all bidding documents met funding agency requirements.
Delivering Full-Service Support
From bid administration and construction oversight to resident project representation, we supported the City through every phase of the project.
