Five Mile High School Design Charrette
The County of Grande Prairie acquired a quarter section of land to accommodate the expansion needs of the local school districts. However, the amount of land acquired was greater than what the school districts saw as necessary to accommodate forecasted school population growth. We were retained to carry out a four-day design charrette with the goal of developing a preferred design. This process included engagement with the school boards, County Council, administration, local sport organizations, and the general public to find solutions that would serve the greatest number of stakeholders. This resulted in a preferred design that used both the land and renovating existing facilities to accommodate two elementary schools, one high school, multiple recreational fields, a small commercial area, a public works facility, and a residential community.
