Sandmines at Pinehurst Resort

Pinehurst Resort set out to create its first new golf course in nearly 30 years as part of a bold vision for a dynamic new golf destination. The Sandmines at Pinehurst Resort campus introduces a distinctive environment featuring two golf courses, clubhouses, lodging, and amenities designed to deliver an immersive experience. We were hired to develop a master plan for the 900-acre site, shaping a vision that balances world-class golf with hospitality and future growth opportunities.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS:
Master Planning
We created a comprehensive master plan for the Sandmines campus, incorporating two golf courses, multiple clubhouses, stay-and-play cabins, a lodge, and future residential development. Our plan also includes a research area for USGA equipment testing and golf industry manufacturers, as well as workforce housing to support operations.
Pinehurst No. 10 Site Design & Integration
We positioned the clubhouse and amenities at Pinehurst No. 10 to maximize views of the dramatic terrain, which features over 75 feet of elevation change and sweeping panoramas across the Sandhills. This approach ensures that every element of the campus feels connected to its unique lands.
Collaboration & Implementation
We work closely with Pinehurst Resort to align the planning and design with its vision for an immersive golf experience rooted in Southern hospitality and the rustic charm of the Sandmines campus. The No. 10 clubhouse and Station 21 restaurant opened in 2025, with development of the No. 11 course, and future lodging opportunities is currently under way.
