Remediation of Former Industrial Property
Environmental issues were preventing the sale of a vacant 32-acre industrial property. While the site had been previously investigated, our team developed a plan to collect additional samples and remediate a portion of the site to work towards closure in the Illinois EPA’s Site Remediation Program. The remediation area was the former location of a large fuel oil aboveground storage tank (AST). Although the AST had been emptied and removed, the connecting pipelines were still in place and full of product. Using real-time instruments, our field staff guided the contractor to areas requiring remediation and took confirmation samples upon the completion of work. As a result, enough cleanup was achieved to successfully sell the property.
