Metra Union Pacific North Line Improvements

Chicago, Illinois

The Union Pacific North Line Improvements is a comprehensive program for rebuilding and modernizing Metra’s fourth-busiest commuter line. Phase I of the program included $67 million in improvements including replacing 11 bridges, the new Ravenswood Station, extensive retaining walls and track reconstruction – all within a busy urban neighborhood where commuting doesn’t stop and greenspace is a significant contributor to the area’s identity. The original design documents addressed the fundamentals; however it was in the construction phase that the V3 team engaged the client, city and residents creating a modified design and construction plan that delivered a highly-operational and resident-friendly project.
