National Intern Day recognizes the importance of creating entry-level career opportunities that build professional skills for the next generation of talent. At V3, our internship and co-op program provides meaningful, hands-on experiences to help students see what it’s really like to work in their chosen field. Career development is one of our firm’s primary focuses; in fact, nearly 10% of our team started as V3 interns! Learn more about our internship program and what this year’s students have to say about their experiences.
V3’s Internship & Co-Op Program

Every summer, we welcome a new class of interns to help bring their studies to life. Many of our interns are future engineers, specializing in structural, civil, construction, or transportation engineering, as well as landscape architecture, natural resources, surveying, and more.
We pair interns with staff members at various levels to give broad career perspectives. Not only do students get to learn from our most seasoned experts, but they also connect with former V3 interns who are now full-time team members.
We take our interns’ goals seriously, offering them hands-on participation and career advice along the way. Our interns become part of our team, enjoying many of the benefits of full-time employment:
- Career charters: Set goals and learn how to achieve them.
- Volunteer opportunities: Give back through one of our philanthropic partners.
- Team support: Ask questions and get guidance from field experts.
- Social events: Have fun at our end-of-the-summer intern celebration.
What Our 2025 Interns Say
This year we have 19 interns across our regional offices, all of whom are diving into real projects and learning on the job. Here’s what a few of them are saying about their experiences so far!
“I have learned so much about the A/E/C industry. Going into this internship just about everything in this industry was unknown to me, but it’s been a very fun process learning about the industry day by day and my time here has given me a great foundation to build from as I decide how I want the start of my career to play out. I find it really fascinating how many people, companies, and organizations are all involved in construction projects, and I am grateful to be a part of it.”
Jared Dudlicek, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
“My experience at V3 has significantly deepened my understanding of the A/E/C industry by illuminating its many components. It’s given me a clearer perspective on Civil Engineering at both the micro and macro levels. I have the privilege of collaborating with multiple teams throughout my week, which provides me with broad exposure to various aspects of the field.”
Nathan Roush, The Ohio State University
“This experience has changed the way I understand the construction industry, because I’ve received a close-up view of everything that is monitored to keep a project on schedule and on budget. I’ve also gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of communication skills, especially through my interactions with construction crews, other engineers, and nearby residents.“
Samuel Vaal, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

“I would say this internship has changed my understanding of the commercial real estate industry! I am not an engineer, but it is very exciting to see how my business and marketing skills could fit in with the company goals and help to achieve them. I also really admire the way V3 tries to do business in a responsible way!”
Mackenzie Jarvis, Manchester University
“My favorite part has probably been the opportunity to connect what I’ve learned in college to what I get to do at V3 on a daily basis. It has been exciting and reassuring to see just how much I learned in my classes and other experiences and getting to apply them on the job, as well as getting to fill in the knowledge gaps and obtain a deeper understanding of what goes into our work as environmental consultants and scientists.”
Alexus Arvin, Purdue University
“My favorite part has been getting to meet and talk to many different people with differing background knowledge and interests and learning why they wanted to do the job that they are doing now. I have made several new connections in this field and hope to make more during the rest of my internship.”
Aleene Rinehart, University of Cincinnati
